The gentle rhythm of the waves lapping against the shore filled Alex's ears. He sat on the beach, his feet buried in the warm sand, watching the sunset paint the sky in vibrant hues. The salty air and the vastness of the ocean always made him feel grounded. He loved this place. He felt good.

A notification interrupted his reverie. His history teacher, Mr. Miller, was now following him on Instagram. Alex’s hand tightened around his phone, his jaw clenching almost imperceptibly. He opened the profile, his expression unreadable. He quickly scrolled through Mr. Miller's posts, finding nothing alarming. He then put his phone back in his pocket. He turned back to the ocean, breathing slowly.
